Industry Sectors We Serve
Sectors We Serve
IPAC has served BC's forestry sector since 1992. Additionally, we own and operate a significant forest tenure, which provides unique insight into the challenges of developing (e.g. roads and harvest blocks) and permitting timber volume in BC. We are exceptionally skilled in all aspects of timber planning and development, stakeholder and First Nations engagement, permitting (e.g. road and cutting permit), silviculture, and compliance reporting. As importantly, we also provide free-standing timber assessments and appraisals, timber harvest planning, log merchandising and marketing, waste and residue surveys, deactivation works, and more. Past and current customers include the BC government (e.g. BC Timber Sales, Wildfire Branch, Parks), forest tenure licensees, woodlot and private land owners, First Nations, and other forestry operators. We operate throughout BC.
Forestry
IPAC provides various project support services, including civil and construction survey, line locates, operational permitting (e.g. OLTC, road permits, etc), timber harvest/clearing support, road assessments, new road layout and geometric design, timber cruising, right-of-way layout and demarcation, stream and riparian classification, sediment and erosion control, and many others to BC's mining and oil & gas sectors. We have worked on new mine start-ups, and site upgrade construction projects such as drainage ditches, settling ponds, road accesses and more, as well as major mine expansion projects. IPAC does pipeline surveys (i.e. including pre-work as-builts and line locates for TMX), and civil survey and line locates for various pipeline facilities. Mining and Oil & Gas works often include comprehensive support for clearing and timber removal, as well as primary access.
Mining, Oil & Gas
IPAC has had a lead role in the pre-feasibility and construction level road consulting, planning and geometric design for 12 wind farms in BC since 2011; including, the Dokie Wind Phase 1 and Dokie Wind Phase 2, Wild Mare, Tumbler Ridge, Meikle Wind, Wartenbe, Sundance, Taylor Wind, Moose Lake, Sukunka Wind, and Zonnebeke projects. Dokie Phase 1, Meikle, Moose Lake, Zonnebeke and Sukunka met FID and were eventually built. IPAC supported several companies with various tasks on transmission line corridors, including civil survey, line locates, access planning, clearing extents demarcation, and timber harvest planning and permitting. Additionally, IPAC has worked on specific met tower installations and completed various site investigations. IPAC also did construction level surveying and sediment and erosion control supervision on several large-scale wind projects.
Energy & Renewables
IPAC provides civil survey, line locates, geomatics and informational/data project support for various infrastructure and municipal projects. IPAC has worked on several major highways projects providing construction level survey support, including staking, volumetrics, setting levels for bridge construction, establishing and maintaining the survey control for machine-mounted GPS systems, and much more. IPAC has also undertaken numerous projects associated with communication infrastructure, such as new cell tower installations and upgrades. IPAC’s strategic alliance with Global Raymac Land Surveying and Engineering Ltd. adds the potential for BCLS and CLS land surveying services under their oversight and administration. This is mission-critical for our municipal services. We work with municipalities, regional districts, transportation agencies, utility owners, as well as construction and public works contractors. Our diversity of services, especially when combined with those offered by Global Raymac, creates options for procurement efficiency on comprehensive land development projects, whether brown-field or green-field. IPAC worked with other BCLS firms prior to forming an alliance with Global Raymac Surveying and Engineering Ltd.
Infrastructure & Municipal
Since 1992 IPAC (formerly Integrated Woods Services Ltd.) has worked very closely with several First Nations communities, organizations, businesses, and individual members. Most notable was a 20+ year role working with West Moberly First Nations’ Chief and council to launch its community based company - Dunne-za Ventures Limited Partnership. IPAC provided ec-dev advise and support during early IBA discussions, as well as advise related to new B2B partnerships. IPAC also assisted several other First Nations communities to plan, develop, harvest, and market substantial volumes of wildfire salvage timber dating back to 2003. IPAC has assisted First Nations communities to plan, secure, and develop replaceable and non-replaceable forest tenures. Our forestry expertise capacity has been a valuable resource for several communities.
IPAC is available to assist First Nations communities, companies, or members to position and resource-up to take advantage of set-aside contracts or other contracting opportunities. We recognize that any associated value propositions must be competitive in order for the business to be sustainable. Maintaining competitiveness ensures that the new enterprises can successfully pursue incremental contracts and markets, thereby minimizing dependencies or vulnerabilities associated with intermittent contract work. IPAC has the experience, insight, and knowledge to recognize traps and pit-falls, and can assist with sustainable, First Nations, capacity building and business growth.
